SEPANG, Oct 30 — Hafiz Syahrin Abdullah blazed the track to finish in fifth place in the Moto2 race of the Malaysian Grand Prix at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) here today.
Hafizh, who started from 14 on the grid, rode a strong race to overtake the other riders to finish among the top five riders.
“I fell but I could control and continue to chase the other riders,” he told reporters after the race.
The rider, who is also also known as “Pescao”, said that he loved the wet track conditions.
“This is by far my best race at Sepang. Praise should go to the team for keeping my machine in good shape,” said the Petronas Raceline Malaysia rider.

“I did not start well and made a mistake at the first corner, thus allowing five or six riders to overtake me. But after a few laps, I found my rhythm and clawed back to finish the race in 12th place,” he added.
Frenchman Johann Zarco of Ajo Motorsports retained the Moto2 world championship after winning the race today.
He clocked 45:51.036s to beat Franco Morbidelli (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc) and Jonas Folger (Dynavolt Intact GP) who came in second and third respectively in 45:54.292s and 45:54.725s. — Bernama
