HONG KONG, June 12 — All three members of veteran Cantopop group Grasshopper suffered minor injuries, together with six of their backup dancers, when a stage collapsed in Hong Kong on Friday.

According to media reports, brothers Calvin and Remus Choy and Edmond So were among nine people injured when the incident happened during a rehearsal before a showcase of lyricist Andrew Lam’s songs in the Hong Kong Coliseum last Friday.

Apple Daily said that they were sent tumbling from an eight-foot tall CD-shaped hydraulic stage when it suddenly tilted mid-rehearsal.

It is understood that the stage was a short distance above the ground, thereby averting what could have been a more serious incident.

“When the stage was tilting to one side, they slipped and fell on to the stage floor,” a source was quoted as saying by South China Morning Post.

A representative for concert organiser Big Honor Entertainment told Apple Daily that Calvin was hospitalised briefly for injuries to his tailbone. He was later discharged.

Two dancers were said to have sustained chin and foot injuries.

The remaining dancers and members of Grasshopper only had minor injuries and did not require treatment.

Calvin took to social media later to reassure fans that he had seen a doctor and would “recover soon”.

Despite the incident, Remus still took to the stage later that night for the Lam showcase and performed solo.
