LOS ANGELES, March 15 — “Spider-Man” supporting actor J. K. Simmons is expected to tie up a deal to join the cast of 2015’s partial franchise reboot “Terminator: Genesis”.
Actors already confirmed include Emilia Clarke (“Game of Thrones”, “Dom Hemingway”) as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney (“Divergent”, “A Good Day to Die Hard”) as John Connor and, in some capacity, Arnold Schwarzenegger as a terminator of one kind or another.
Alan Taylor (“Thor: The Dark World”, “Game of Thrones”) is to direct.
This most recent casting choice led Ain’t It Cool News to speculate that Simmons, a regular on TV cop series “Law & Order” and “The Closer”, could fill the role once held by “Aliens” star Lance Henriksen, that of police sergeant Hal Vukovich.
That certainly fits in with THR’s assertion that the Simmons character is a “weary and alcoholic detective who has followed a bizarre case involving Sarah Connor and robots for more than three decades”. — AFP-Relaxnews
