KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 11 — Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-morning today, weighed on by losses in heavyweights.
At 11.08am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was quoted at 1,647.28, down 10.33 points.
Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 480 to 243, with 279 counters unchanged, 720 untraded and 12 others were suspended.
Turnover stood at 715.71 million shares worth RM477.02 million.
Among heavyweights, Maybank was flat at RM8.34, while TNB lost eight sen to RM13.04, Public Bank declined 10 sen to RM18.18 and Petronas Chemicals decreased 14 sen to RM7.41.
Among actives, Tiger Synergy and DPS Resources added half-a-sen each to 9.5 sen and 44.5 sen respectively, while AWC increased two sen to 44.5 sen.
Top losers were Petronas Gas (-40 sen to RM21.42) and Batu Kawan (-32 sen to RM17.16), while top gainers were British American Tobacco (+88 sen to RM54.98) and Petron (+39 sen to RM6.57).
On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index reduced 67.78 points to 11,555.5, the FBMT100 decreased 70.43 points to 11,219.54 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index lost 88.45 points for 12,535.93.
The FBM 70 slid 82.16 points to 13,047.46 and the FBM Ace eased 27.36 points to 6,296.01.
Sector-wise, the Industrial Index fell 28.78 points to 3,174.45, the Plantation Index gave up 43.58 points to 7,582.61 and the Finance Index contracted 47.56 points to 13,871.03. — Bernama
