KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — Stamp collectors will be happy to know that Pos Malaysia will be issuing its National Laureates stamp series this Friday.
This first stamp in this series will feature three of Malaysia’s renowned national laureates namely Kamaluddin Muhammad (“Keris Mas”), Usman Awang (“Tongkat Warrant”) and Muhammad bin Abdul Biang (“Arena Wati”).
Each sheet will feature three stamp designs engraved with copper metallic ink and silver matte background with a worth of 80 sen each. The complete National Laureates stamp series set will be available at RM57.30 each.
The stamps will be unveiled in conjunction with the International Book Fair Kuala Lumpur 2016 at the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang this Friday.
Stamp enthusiasts in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on this collection as sales in those states will begin on May 2.

“The issuance of the national laureate’s series is part of our efforts in honouring Malaysia’s national laureates for their outstanding contributions in producing world class literary works, to encourage a reading habit among Malaysians, as well as to preserve our heritage through our stamp collections,” said Pos Malaysia group CEODato’ Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh.
“Most of these literary works were hand written, as such, the pen nib cancellation mark represents their creativity and dedication in producing fine literature reads for generations to come. I believe that avid collectors or beginners will find this issue interesting for them to add on as part of their collection,” he added.
