NEW YORK, Oct 11 — Fitbit has just released a new Bluetooth-connected activity tracker called the Force, a bracelet that blends the US company’s digital fitness tracking expertise with some basic smartwatch functionality.
The new device will include features from the Fitbit One, such as an altimeter to measure steps climbed, as well as the number of steps taken over a day – it’s the only wristband tracker that can do so. You can also track calories burned, distance travelled, and how long you’ve slept, with most of the information viewable on the device’s OLED screen or via a Fitbit app.
Plus its new smartwatch-inspired design should put it in line with Nike’s FuelBand – however, rumours are swirling around Nike’s plan to unveil a sleeker FuelBand 2 next week at a press event in New York City.
US customers can order a Force online for US$129.95 (RM413), with the product hitting retail shelves in the country soon. As for other countries, a Fitbit representative told Relaxnews that release dates are pending.
