SINGAPORE, Oct 20 — Village Hotel Sentosa in Singapore is assisting the police after a guest alleged that S$3,000 (RM9,786) in cash was stolen from his room earlier this week.
According to The Straits Times, police received a call for assistance at 10 Artillery Avenue — the address of the hotel — at around 1.35pm on October 17.
A 34-year-old woman is assisting with investigations for the offence of theft in dwelling.
A spokesman for Far East Hospitality, which operates the hotel, confirmed the incident and said the company is “cooperating fully with the authorities and remains in contact with the guest to support the ongoing process.”
“As investigations are still ongoing, we are unable to comment at this stage,” the spokesman added, as cited by the Singapore daily.
The guest, who is from Taiwan, had shared his experience on Threads, posting in Chinese at around 4.15pm on October 17 that S$3,000 in cash had allegedly been stolen by a housekeeping staff member.
He wrote that he had left the cash inside a plastic bag in his hotel room on the night of October 16 before heading to Universal Studios Singapore the next day.
When he returned, he alleged that the money was gone.
Police investigations are ongoing.
