KUALA LUMPUR, April 25 — Mojo Projects is back for the third time bringing over 100 musicians and singers from India for a four-part concert series that promises a close-up treat for the fans.

Mojo Projects Sdn Bhd, well known for doing shows that hasn't been attempted before in Malaysia, has built a wave of fans especially from the social media circle when they headlined their first concert featuring homegrown band Akasha along with top South Indian acts such as Masala Coffee, Thaikkudam Bridge, Haricharan feat Bennet and the band as well as Karthik and The Krew in 2016, and in 2017, Grammy Award winning singer Vijay Prakash, Sid Sriram, Agam, Aalaap Raju and Band.

They also featured Malaysian rappers Balan Kashmir, Stylomannavan, and Dan Shiv.

This time the concert series will see names such as blue-eyed boy of today's generation, Indian singer Benny Dayal from Kerala who will be performing in Kuala Lumpur for the first time and Indian film playback singer Unni Menon who has sung over 3000 Indian songs.

Among the other popular names are Carnatic vocalist and a national award-winning playback singer, P. Unnikrishnan.

Also with him will be Aalaap Raju from Chennai and Naresh Iyer from Mumbai, both well known playback singers and Aalaap also plays the bass.

Rock music lovers will also witness Agam, a Bangalore-based contemporary Carnatic progressive rock band who will be here to perform for the second time.

The final concert highlight will also see Indian music director Sean Roldan, whose real name is Raghavendra Raja Rao who has done impressive work on Carnatic and film soundtracks such as Power Paandi, Velei Illa Pattathaari 2, and National Award winning film Joker.

The first three concerts will be organised by Mojo Projects, while the final show will be organised by Malaysia Independent Live Fusion Festival (MILFF). 

Keeping up to their promise in supporting local talents and Independent music sector, this year's line up will see the organiser giving back to the local scene with #PU4LYF, a record label run by hip hop and rap based singer Rabbit Mac whose real name is Charles John Macallum .

Hailing from Penang, Rabbit Mac will be the opening act for the final concert where he will put together an ensemble of talents and perform as a full unit, something that has never been done before.

So what are we expecting from the four series concerts?

Concert 1: Madras - An 80's Musical

Madras, the melting pot and epicentre of culture, language and the performing arts. It is also the south's movie capital.

Mojo Projects has envisioned a night of nostalgia filled with super hit numbers from the golden years of Maestro Illayaraja performed by the Aalap Raju Band, playback singers Rahul Nambiar, Ranjith and the ever-sultry Saindhavi.

This concert will intertwine audio visual and poetic aspects of the compositions, as well as some stories behind those beautiful melodies and movies.

The concert will take place on May 5th from 6pm to 11pm at Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 2 : Triple Treat - A Battle of the Bands

It promises to be a mesmerising three hours of high energy performances by Agam and the versatile and rich sounds of Stephen Devassy & The Solid Band.

The night will end with award-winning playback singer Naresh Iyer & The Navneeth Sunder Ensemble taking the stage.

Agam will be presenting some brand new tracks from their newly released album.

This will take place on June 9 from 6pm to 11.30 at Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 3: Retro Rahman - A Tribute

What’s a concert series without a tribute to the God of Music himself?

Double Oscar winner AR Rahman will be celebrated in this episode of the Mojo Concert Series.

Fans can expect songs from the early stages of his massive film career throughout the 90's and early 2000s.

These hits will be performed by stalwarts like Unni Menon, Unni Krishnan , and Harini who will all belt out their own super hits under Rahman.

They will also be joined by Vijay TV's Super Singer, a reality-based Indian singing competition alumnus, Haripriya.

Anil Srinivasan - a pianist  will anchor a show for the first time in Malaysia, with an energetic band.

This will take place on July 7 from 6pm to 11pm at Hotel Istana in KL.

Concert 4 - The MainStage MILFF 2018

The Mainstage, will see a myriad of talent from the youthful exuberance of Sathyaprakash and Pooja V fresh out of their successful Vijay TV Super Singer run.

The duo will be paired with Rajesh Vaithiya the world- famous veena maestro and his eclectic band of musicians.

Malaysian record label #PU4LYF will be the opening act.

Also in this segment will be music director Sean Roldan and his band.

Themed "Sean Roldan Live" fans can look forward to some of his own songs from famed movies like Vellai Illa Pathadhari 2 and Power Paandi.

The night will rock on with the infectious energy of the sassy Andrea Jeremiah, a well-known actress, playback singer, musician and dancer.

She will be performing with a band she has put together — comprising film composer and singer Leon James, who will be the music director on keys, and other seasoned musicians.

Taking the night to its peak will be the Benny Dayal & Funktuation band. They have performed together all over the world but this will be their first show in Malaysia.

Benny, an award-winning singer, has toured with AR Rahman to this region a few times, but this time, Benny will be accompanied by a full band for the finale of MILFF. Benny has promised to deliver a selection of his greatest hits and perform his trademark fusion music.
