LOS ANGELES, June 13 — Well-respected actor and thespian Brian Cox is to feature in Adam Sandler’s alien invasion film “Pixels.”

With Sandler installed as the presidentially mandated leader of a resistance movement against video game-style aliens, Cox is now in place to play military man Admiral Porter, The Hollywood Reporter announced.

Kevin James becomes Sandler’s childhood friend and current US President, with Peter Dinklage and Josh Gad also recruited to the cause.

The cleverly timed announcement comes as the gaming industry’s annual Electronic Entertainment Expo draws to a close in Los Angeles.

Star of hard-hitting films “Nuremberg” and “L.I.E.,” Cox has also appeared in two “Super Troopers” films, two “X-Men” films, the two “RED” adaptations and Spike Jonze’s Academy Award-winner “Her” as part of a long and varied acting career.

Other blockbuster gigs include “Braveheart,” “The Bourne Supremacy” and “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.”

Directed by Chris Columbus of “Home Alone,” “Mrs. Doubtfire” and “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets,” “Pixels” is based on a 2010 digital short by Patrick Jean and is due to arrive in cinemas as a feature film in May 2015. — AFP-Relaxnews
