LOS ANGELES, June 5 — Born and raised in Mexico, Salma Hayek was destined for great things. Her mother was an opera singer and talent scout, while her father, although owned an industrial-equipment company, once ran for mayor.

Raised in a wealthy family, Salma moved to America when she was 12-years-old for a better education, only to move back to Mexico for university. Her screen career really started in 1994 in a Mexican TV Movie, and a year later, she was starring in a film next to Antonio Banderas in Hollywood.

Although raised in a Christian family, Hayek has said that she no longer believes in the institution, and is a big advocate for yoga.

Not only does she constantly put out good work on the screen, she’s also a charitable woman, trying to increase awareness on violence against women as well as discrimination against immigrants.

With a big heart and huge onscreen presence, there’s no doubt that we’ll be seeing the lovely Salma Hayek on our screens for a long time. — Cover MediaActor Salma Hayek (right) is still in demand as an actress. — Reuters pic
