LOS ANGELES, June 3 — Marvel continues the search for an “Ant-Man” director as Adam McKay departs in order to focus on existing commitments.

Paul Rudd is still in place, the “Knocked Up” and “This Is 40” star is to play the lead role of scientist and super hero Ant-Man, with Michael Douglas appearing as the title character’s previous incarnation.

McKay had originally been brought on board as a replacement for Edgar Wright (“The World’s End”), who wrote the film in collaboration with Joe Cornish (“Attack the Block”).

“McKay had a long history with star Paul Rudd, having directed the actor in both ‘Anchorman’ comedies, but ultimately passed late Friday night,” reported Variety.

Dated for July 2015, “Ant-Man” is to form part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Three, with “Captain America 3” due May 2016, as Phase Two culminates in “Guardians of the Galaxy” (August 2014) and Joss Whedon’s ensemble pic “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” — AFP-Relaxnews
