LAS VEGAS, Jan 9 — For fans of fitness tracking, a key essential to acquiring data is a decent heart rate monitor. While there are plenty of options on the market, Scosche has just introduced an armband monitor that promises to be even more accurate (and more comfortable to wear) than a chest strap. Plus you won’t need to bring along your smartphone with you during your workout.

Rhythm Smart+ heart rate monitor, announced at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, pairs with smartphones and smart watches via Bluetooth or ANT+. In addition, it works with apps including Runkeeper and Strava — but even better, it stores the data in its embedded memory to upload later to your smartphone, meaning you won’t need to bring your phone along on your runs or bike rides if you’d rather not.

The device will be priced at US$99 (RM325) and is expected to hit retailers this spring. — AFP/Relaxnews
