PUTRAJAYA, Oct 8 ― Putrajaya Taekwon-do Association has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) for gathering 1,600 exponents in a board breaking demonstration in conjunction with National Sports Day 2016 celebration at Dataran Putrajaya, here today.
Its representative, Muhammad Zaidi Surati said the event has the support of other taekwon-do associations in the country, who also took part in the demonstration.
“Being listed in the Malaysia Book of Records is the pride of all practitioners of this martial art sport. I am thankful to all exponents for giving full commitment,” he told Bernama.
For participants Kasmila Nair and Vishalni Nair, the event gave them the opportunity to become a part of history.
“We feel very happy, not only with the record but with the response. It is a new experience and should be continued.”
Jeanne Lee,46, of Go Young Cycling Club from Kuala Lumpur also joined in the National Sports Day (NSD) celebration.
“Such an event is very good in shaping a culture of healthy lifestyle among the people in this country,” she said.
More than 20 club members accompanied Jeanne in her cycle around Putrajaya.
About 7 million people or 20 per cent of the population are expected to join NSD programes nationwide, compared to 4.2 million who took part last year. ― Bernama
