KUALA LUMPUR, April 20 — From romance to action, leading man Zul Ariffin is about to show off his serious side for the upcoming movie, J Revolusi.

“I’m lucky to be given the trust to play this role,” said the actor during the movie’s launch at Berjaya Times Square yesterday.

Zul, who will be starring as a UTK (Unit Tindakan Khas/Special Actions Unit) leader, added that he felt nervous but thankful to UTK for allowing him to don the uniform.

Executive producer Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin also revealed that the buff actor had to go through intensive training to further ensure that he would be able to portray his role convincingly.

Also part of the main cast are Izara Aisyah, who was absent during the launch, Nur Fazura and Farid Kamil, who plays an antagonist role.

Playing the villain roles are ONE FC MMA professionals, Peter Davis, Saiful Merican, Jenathan and Davro.

When asked if it was hard to transition from sweet characters to a tough one, actress Nur Fazura replied that she was ready to shed her stereotypical image.

Tengku Iesta voiced out that the production team was initially sceptical of her, as well as co-star Izara’s ability to star in an action movie but was later proven wrong.

“After 20 days of shooting, we’ve come to realise that the talented actresses can pull off any characters. And we think that Fazura and Izara will be able to bring a difference to the movie,” said the producer.

Speaking of difference, the producer revealed that the props and equipment used in the movies, which includes Armoured Personnel Carriers, are approved by The Royal Malaysia Police, who have also assisted them in sculpting the movie’s storyline, hence it will definitely give off a more realistic look and feel.

Produced by Grand Brilliance and Infinitus Productions, the movie by first-time director, Zulkarnain Azhar, follows Jay Zulkarnain (Zul Ariffin) who has to rescue his sister, Dian (Nur Fazura), an undercover agent who has been kidnapped by a mysterious man that is framing Jay for murder.
