KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia was lower at mid-afternoon as buying interest for heavyweights was dampened by selling activities in small caps, dealers said.

Losers thumped gainers 606 to 234 with 359 counters unchanged, 685 counters untraded and 20 others were suspended.

However, at 3.01pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.9 of-a-point higher at 1,719.26 after opening 0.47 of-a-point stronger at 1,718.83 from yesterday’s close of 1,718.36.

Turnover stood at 1.41 billion shares worth RM1.11 billion.

Topping the losers counter, Heineken shed 50 sen to RM17.50, BAT lost 38 sen to RM39.62, MPI and Allianz erased 28 sen each to RM13.26 and RM13.72, respectively, and Apex Healthcare declined 19 sen to RM5.30.

Among heavyweights, TNB garnered eight sen to RM14.90 while Public Bank and Petronas Dagangan added two sen each to RM20.34 and RM7.30, respectively.

Sime Darby eased one sen to RM8.98 but Maybank was flat at RM9.21.

Of actives, Sumatec and Key Asic slipped half-a-sen each to five sen and 20.5 sen, respectively.

DGB Asia earned half-a-sen to 14.5 sen, Palette Multimedia added one sen to 31.5 sen and Berjaya Corp gained 1.5 sen to 40.5 sen.

On the scoreboard, the FBM Emas Index erased 13.771 points to 12,368.89, FBMT 100 Index declined 8.33 points to 12,026.29 and the FBM Ace fell 33.87 points to 6,374.29.

The FBM Emas Shariah Index eased 23.75 points to 12,807.18 and the FBM 70 was 65.02 points lower at 15,189.24.

Sector-wise, the Finance Index added 1.08 points to 15,976.34, the Plantation Index edged up 26.64 points to 7,915.27 but the Industrial Index eased 11.94 points to 3,132.03. — Bernama
