KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 ― Bursa Malaysia remained in the red at mid-morning today on continued selling in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

At 11.01am, the  benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.34 points lower at 1,748.60, after opening 4.06 points easier at 1,746.88.

Market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers by 346 against 285 while 350 counters remained unchanged, 483 untraded and 21 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 374.12 million shares worth RM447.89 million. 

Of the heavyweights, Maybank eased four sen to RM9.21, Tenaga fell two sen to RM14.82, Public Bank declined four sen to RM20.44 and Genting was seven sen lower to RM9.28.

Sime Darby rose one sen to RM9.07 and Petronas Chemicals added five sen to RM7.38.

Among active counters, BJ Corp, DGB and Key Alliance increased half-a-sen each to 38 sen, 9.5 sen and 17.5 sen, respectively, PUC and Diversified Gateway were flat at 19.5 sen and eight sen respectively.

The FBM Emas Index decreased 2.684.85 points to 12,610.34, FBMT 100 Index was 1.23 points lower at 12,250.02, FBM 70 increased 54.68 points to 15,540.60, FBM Emas Shariah Index rose 8.90 points to 13,051.99 and the FBM Ace soared 31.26 points to 6,828.84.  

Sector-wise, the Finance Index decreased 35.04 points to 16,292.83 and Industrial Index dropped 2.60 points to 3,190.36 but the Plantation Index was 20.98 points higher at 8,032.18. ― Bernama
