KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) members can contest under the Pakatan Harapan ticket should the Registrar of Societies (RoS) fail to recognise the opposition party before the 14th general elections, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said.
The coalition president said PPBM was part of the Opposition pact and therefore would not be neglected should such circumstance arise.
“We have already faced this before when they caused problems with DAP. If it comes to that, Pribumi can contest under the logo of Pakatan Harapan,” she was quoted as saying in The Star today, referring to PPBM.
“We will face it together should RoS make any sudden moves,” she added.
Last Friday, the RoS termed PPBM’s youth wing’s name “Armada” as illegal, explaining that using such a term was an offence and could lead to serious implications including deregistration of the party.
RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim also said the party’s Extraordinary General Meeting or Annual General Meeting held last year could not be recognised as only 12 supreme council members attended the meeting, making it invalid.
However, RoS has yet to approve Pakatan Harapan’s registration as a formal pact. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had said last month that the application was still under consideration and is being scrutinised for any security concerns.
In a separate news report, PPBM president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said his party will comply with all instructions by the RoS, including changing its youth wing’s name to “PPBM Youth”.

“We have already issued an instruction to our youth wing to use the name ‘PPBM Youth’ instead.
“We hope the RoS will consider our application immediately. I don’t think it will cause any issues as it’s just a name,” he was quoted as saying in the English daily.
