LOS ANGELES, March 13 — Some ideas, they say, are dangerous. Some could argue that about a board game devised by UX designer Alyx Baldwin.
It’s more a concept, and definitely not one you could easily commercialise without breaking many laws: it’s a boardgame based on Hunter Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. If you guessed that it had something to do with drugs, you’d be right.
Billing it as “a scientifically-accurate, organic chemistry board game “ the game includes money and random combinations of substances. Each player will first throw in US$20 in the pot and whoever finishes first, wins the pot.
What happens is then players roll dice to move their player tokens on a board. On yellow, the player must take a dose of a drug specified on a card. Blue means going on an adventure, while red means taking challenges that will be very hard to do when high.
The game cautions there must be a “sitter” – basically the equivalent of a designated driver. While the game is an amusing concept, best not try and emulate it unless you fancy getting written up on a plethora of drug charges.
