BROOKLYN, April 23 — A Brooklyn-based artistic collective has created a fully-functioning pipe organ made from 250 empty Pringles cans.

The instrument features a playing area, and pressing down on the exposed cans around this section of the organ creates various unusual tones generated from within the base of the piece, which flow up through the pipes. The ‘keys’ can be held down together to create chords, or played in short bursts.

The designers, Fall On Your Sword, also designed a ‘chandelier’ made from 100 Pringles chips intended to hang above the organ and be blown around by the wind coming from its pipes. The chips have been sprayed silver.

The group creates art inspired by the power of sound to alter the context of visual media. The group created the installation after being approached by Pringles and Gawker Media about a commissioned art piece using Pringles as a raw material.
