SHAH ALAM, May 18 — UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMW Toyota) and Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) today announced the price changes for Toyota and Lexus vehicles, as well as Volkswagen’s model range.

The updated price is on the back of the ministry of finance (MoF) announcement that goods and services tax (GST) which currently set at six per cent will be zero-rated (0 per cent) effective on June 1, this year.

According to paultan.org, the entry-level for Vios 1.5J manual transmission, priced at RM74,980 with GST, will now go for RM70,752, making it cheaper by RM4,228 while the new C-HR with current price at RM145,500, will go for RM137,700.

The Alphard 3.5 Executive Lounge, currently listed at RM540,800 will be priced at RM510,343 as of June 1, making it RM30,457 cheaper.

Meanwhile, Volkswagen Polo, which currently priced at RM 76,888 will go for RM 72,488 after zero per cent of GST, making it cheaper by RM4,400.

Tiguan Comfortline with current price at RM 148,990 will go for RM 139,888, down for RM9,102.

These new prices will remain in effect until the sales and services tax (SST) comes back in to replace GST.

However, the return of SST was not stated in the zero-rated GST announcement two days ago by the MoF.
