MLADÁ BOLESLAV, April 17 — With a nod to its roots, a classic Czech car gets a makeover.

Inspired by the legendary Czech Skoda, the R200 is a modern version of the car that was popular in the 1970s.

Award-winning Czech designers Petr Novague and Marek Hoffmann joined forces to fulfil their dreams of revamping a Czech icon.

“This model came from the R130, the sport special model. That’s very special — the graphic styling and the silhouette are very sexy, the coupe styling. We wanted to maintain that so we used here a variety of elegant, dynamic styling points, various depressions, round front lights and squared off back,” said Novague.

While working on the R200 or ‘ERKO’ — as it is also called — the team wanted to be stylistically innovative while still retaining key elements of the original Skoda car frame.

The result is an updated take on a two-seater sports car. And while it boasts Czech design, several features are derived from Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche.
