SAN FRANCISCO, Jan 18 — A pair of lead developers from 1990s classic Theme Hospital are making a comeback with Two Point Hospital, due out late on in 2018.

When business and healthcare met in 1997 simulation Theme Hospital, an instant classic was born.

An atypical setting and dark humor contributed to the success of Theme Hospital, which allowed players to build and manage custom-made hospitals, hiring and firing staff, curing a succession of oddball ailments, and setting healthcare policy no matter how appropriate.

Now, two of the leads from Theme Hospital are back.

Designer Mark Webley and artist Gary Carr have set up English concern Two Point Studios and the new team's first game will be Two Point Hospital.

The pair worked with idiosyncratic, inspirational British game designer Peter Molyneux first at Bullfrog (Syndicate, Dungeon Keeper) and then Lionhead Studios (Fable).

They have Sega on board as publisher and Two Points Hospital is coming to PC sometime during the back half of 2018.

Picking up on its predecessor's affection for fictional diseases, Two Point Hospital promises the humour, charm and replayability of Theme Hospital.

Sega Europe noted that it saw franchise potential in Two Point's project.

Simultaneously, Two Point Studio's naming convention indicates that it could be formulating a line of “Two Point” games after Two Point Hospital is done.

Webley and Carr both worked on film business sim The Movies and, separately, Carr helped develop space station game Startopia while Webley was active on Theme Hospital predecessor Theme Park. — AFP-Relaxnews
