KUALA LUMPUR, April 24 — Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) president Datuk Seri Norza Zakaria will head the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) as its president for the term 2018-2021.
An independent panel consisting returning officer Datuk Jahabardeen Yunoos and ordinary members Brig. Gen. Norhuda Ahmad and Jadadish Chandra Bipinchandra announced the nominations at OCM office today.
“We’ve 12 posts to fill and all will be contested but four. President, both male (Chan Foong Keong) and female (Moira Tan Siew See) assistant secretary-general and treasurer (Ahmad Feisel Ahmad Tajuddin),” Jahabardeen said.
“Datuk Seri Norza is automatically the new president as he is unopposed.
“All nominations will be verified in two days time as we will do insolvency checks on the nominees. Nominations are closed and anyone pulling out will not be replaced with another. I hope the elections on May 5th is run smoothly and the nominees follow procedure,” he added.
The hot seats will be the deputy president posts where Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Tan Sri Omardin and Asian Games chef-de-mission and National Sports Institute (NSI) chief Daruk Seri Azim Zabidi will go head to head while the secretary generals post is down to Datuk Low Beng Choo and Datuk Nazifuddin Najib.
