KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 — Television host and actress Sherry Alhadad said her physicians told her to shed her excess weight within three years or risk facing health complications.

Since January, the 33-year-old has taken steps to change her lifestyle and embarked on a weight loss programme.

She told the Sinar Harian newspaper that she has since lost 11kg and was going to the gym at least three times a week.

“The weight I lost isn’t so drastic, but I’m satisfied.

“I’ve been exercising and watching my diet, I'm not losing weight for no reason, I want to be healthy and fit,” she said at a meet-and-greet session with fans at Setapak Central Mall.

Sherry, whose real name is Shariffah Mariam Syed Abdullah Alhadad, previously weighed 119kg.

She plans to reduce this to 100kg in the next two months, but said this will be challenging as she must give up her favourite foods.

“I love all types of chocolate so when I couldn’t have any, it was really hard.

“But Sundays are my cheat day, so I can eat whatever I like as long as I don’t overdo it,” she said.

On another note, Sherry is working on a collection of plus-size Hari Raya dresses with boutique Asyikin Exclusive.

“This is my second year collaborating with Asyikin Exclusive and we will be making baju raya for plus size women.

“We will be launching designs that are suitable for plus size bodies and most importantly, the price is affordable,” she said.
