LOS ANGELES, Dec 9 — First we heard that Tom Cruise may star in the upcoming “The Mummy” reboot, now there’s talk that “Kingsman: The Secret Service” star Sofia Boutella may play the title role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter it was previously rumoured that director Alex Kurtzman’s take may include a female version of the monster and that now appears to be the route the reboot is headed.

Cruise is said to still be in negotiations to star opposite her as a former Navy Seal who has history with her.

Plot details remain under wraps, with Kurtzman set to direct the film from a script by Jon Spaihts (“Prometheus”). The Mummy reboot is set for release on March 24, 2017 with another Untitled Universal Monster Movie set to follow it on March 30, 2018.
