LOS ANGELES, Nov 24 — Another award show, another Nicki Minaj drama? Sorry folks, Minaj wants you to know that nothing of such happened yesterday at the American Music Awards.
Jennifer Lopez performed a medley of a few recent hits including “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” and, of course, “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj during the opening ceremony of yesterday’s AMA.
What got the Internet all worked up though, was when the cameras panned to Minaj’s less than thrilled expression while J.Lo was singing to “Anaconda”. The Internet responded to Minaj’s pretty expressionless face, wondering if she was throwing shade at J.Lo.
Taking to Twitter to deny the rumours, Minaj explained what was really going on when the camera panned over her: “lol says what all? I’m looking at my own face on the screen when I’m looking to the right,” she wrote in response to a fan. “I turn Bak & look @ her.”
So there you have it: If Minaj is going to publicly slam anyone, we would definitely know about it.
