KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 27 — Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) recorded earnings of RM929.75 million in the financial year ended Dec 31 last year, a growth of 19.8 per cent against the previous year of  RM776.03 million.

The group’s Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly said the increase was driven by the growth of Internet and multimedia services as well as foreign exchange gains recognised from group borrowings.

"Our revenue inched up 0.2 per cent to RM12.09 billion from RM12.06 billion on the back of higher Internet revenue contribution," he said at the media briefing of TM's 2017 full-year results today.

There was a robust 8.3 per cent growth to RM305.7 million in Internet and multimedia services despite the decline in all other revenue lines.

Moving forward, TM expects sustainable performance for the group in 2018, despite competition and challenges.

“This is driven by our new execution model which prioritises our plans towards delivering relevant converged digital lifestyle services and end-to-end business solutions to all our customers,” Shazalli said.

TM declared a 12.10 sen dividend in the fourth-quarter of 2017 which is to be paid to shareholders on April 13 this year.
