KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 12 — Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd’s (MAHB) total passenger traffic grew by 6.5 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) to 10.8 million passengers in January 2018.

Of the total, international passengers accounted for 5.3 million passengers, a 10.8 per cent growth y-o-y, while domestic passengers recorded 5.5 million passengers, up 2.7 per cent, y-o-y, the airport operator said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

MAHB said airports in Malaysia registered a 1.5 per cent growth to 8.1 million passengers in January 2018.

“International traffic for Asean countries grew 7.2 per cent to 2.1 million passengers while non-Asean traffic posted a 10.5 per cent growth to 2.4 million passengers,” it said.

During the month under review, MAHB said Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) handled 5.1 million passengers, up 4.8 per cent y-o-y, while overall aircraft movement at the airport increased 7.2 per cent, y-o-y.

Other local airports operated by MAHB recorded three million passengers in January 2018 while Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport’s passenger traffic grew 25.3 per cent, y-o-y.

On a 12-month basis, MAHB network registered a 7.6 per cent growth with 128.6 million passengers, with total aircraft movements increasing by 2 per cent. — Bernama
