KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Share prices on Bursa Malaysia remained lower at mid-morning, with the barometer FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) weighed down by selling in selected heavyweights led by finance-related counters, dealers said. 

At 11.15am, the FBM KLCI was 2.22 points easier at 1,752.15, after opening 0.93 points easier at 1,753.44 from Monday's close of 1,754.37.

On the broader market, losers led gainers  338 to 282 with 374 counters unchanged, 850 untraded and 19 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.22 billion shares worth RM562.91 million.

Of the heavyweights, Maybank fell one sen to RM9.45, CIMB was down six sen to RM6.18, Hong Leong Bank eased two sen to RM15.98 while Tenaga rose two sen to RM14.28.

Among active counters, PUC and MNC Wireless inched down half-a-sen to 16.5 sen and 10.5 sen, respectively, while Netx and Nexgram were flat at six sen and four sen, respectively.

The FBM Emas Index fell 17.76 points to 12,576.73, the FBM Emas Shariah Index was down 7.63 points to 12,894.60.The FBM 70 declined 25.76 points to 15,318.08, the FBMT 100 Index inched down 16.76 points to 12,223.83 but the FBM Ace increased 49.34 points to 7,024.99. 

Sector-wise, the Plantation Index erased 10.94 points to 7,964.65, the Industrial Index shed 7.31 points to 3,221.92 and the Finance Index was 62.50 points lower at 16,418.7. — Bernama
