KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 22 ― Share prices on Bursa Malaysia turned lower at mid-morning today on selling activities in most heavyweights, particularly trade and services-related counters.
At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 0.79-of-a-point weaker at 1,705.76 than yesterday's close of 1,706.55.
The index opened 2.14 points higher at 1,708.69.
However, market breadth was positive with gainers outpacing losers by 348 to 314, while 340 counters unchanged, 726 untraded and 21 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.01 billion shares worth RM612.93 million.
Of the heavyweights, trade and services-linked counters, namely Tenaga National fell six sen to RM13.52, IHH Healthcare and Sime Darby each lost four sen to RM6.20 and RM9.13, and Telecom inched down three sen to RM6.14
Among the actives, XOX and Vivocom eased half-a-sen each to 10.5 sen and 11 sen respectively, Hibiscus Petroleum added 2.5 sen to 53.5 sen, while Dagang Nexchange remained flat at 38.5 sen.
The FBM Emas Index trimmed 2.84 points to 12,024.12, FBMT100 Index eased 5.14 points to 11,701.19 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index was 11.83 points lower at 12,508.30.
The FBM 70 fell 5.03 points to 13,921.56 and the FBM Ace gave up 13.85 points to 5,366.55.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index improved 0.08-of-a-point to 3,278.77, the Plantation Index rose 4.59 points to 8,010.54.
The Finance Index, however, slid 9.28 points to 15,055.98. ― Bernama
