KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 — Bursa Malaysia continued its downtrend at mid-morning today, led by losses in selected finance, trade and services and index-linked counters.
At 11.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was 2.70 points easier at 1,707.09 from 1,709.79 yesterday.
The index opened 2.18 points lower at 1,707.61.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 349 to 288 with 351 counters unchanged, 733 untraded and 23 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 752.85 million shares worth RM475.54 million.
Of the heavyweights, CIMB declined eight sen to RM5.09, Hong Leong eased 20 sen to RM15.28, Tenaga inched down four sen to RM13.52 and Astro slipped three sen to RM2.78.
Among the losers, BAT fell 76 sen to RM48.24, Aeon gave up 24 sen to RM15.66, UMW lost 13 sen to RM5.57 and Time Dotcom was 10 sen lower at RM8.08.
Of the actives, Dagangan Nexchange gained three sen to 31.5 sen and its warrant improved half-a-sen to 7.5 sen, Asia Bioenergy inched up half-a-sen to seven sen, while Metronic Global eased half-a-sen to nine sen.
The FBM Emas Index eased 16.48 points to 12,021.07, the FBMT100 Index fell 16.66 points to 11,699.64 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index slid 0.64-of-point to 12,549.39.
The FBM 70 decreased 12.90 points to 13,879.02 and the FBM Ace shed 7.68 points to 5,287.48.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index was 2.25 points higher at 3,276.24, while the Finance Index dipped 50.54 points to 15,073.64 and the Plantation Index lost 1.52 points to 8,199.67. — Reuters
