KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 ― Bursa Malaysia remained higher at mid-morning today, spurred by light buying in selected heavyweights.
At 11.21am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,669.75, up 0.72 of-a-point from yesterday's close of 1,669.03, after opening 0.58 of-a-point higher at 1,669.61.
The index opened 0.58 of-a-point higher at 1,669.61.
TNB was the top contributor to the composite index, gaining 16 sen to RM14.80 with 14.47 million shares changing hands.
Other leading movers in the composite index component stocks were Maybank, CIMB Group, Public Bank which all gained four sen to RM7.83, RM5.04 and RM19.80, respectively, while BAT rose 10 sen to RM48.30.
Meanwhile, the FBM Emas Index fell 0.94 half-a-point to 11,779.72, the FBMT100 Index increased 0.67 of-a-point to 11,482.18, while the FBM Emas Syariah Index went down 5.61 points to 12,417.34.
The FBM 70 decreased 14.52 points to 13,752.39, while the FBM Ace improved 1.49 points to 5,145.42.
On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index lost 3.45 points to 3,149.76, the Finance Index rose 30.23 points to 14,512.75, while the Plantation Index eased 27.42 points to 7,928.25.
On the broader market, market breadth was negative with losers outpacing gainers 353 to 223, while 331 counters were unchanged, 793 untraded and 80 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 633.86 billion shares worth RM581.80 million.
Among actives, Kinsteel slipped 2.5 sen to three sen, RGB bagged 1.5 sen to 21.5 sen, XOX eased one sen to 14 sen and Iris was flat at 16.5 sen. ― Bernama
