KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 ― The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) further increased at mid-morning on higher oil prices, a dealer said.  

At 11.15 am, the local index added 3.48 points to 1,668.44, versus Wednesday's close of 1,664.96, after opening 2.67 points higher at 1,667.63 this morning.

Gainers led losers 322 to 264, while 338 counters were unchanged, 800 untraded and 80 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 736.48 million shares worth RM447.08 million.              

Among top gainers, British American Tobacco jumped 64 sen to RM49.76, Apex Healthcare increased 22 sen to RM4.20, Lay Hong added 20 sen to RM10.10 and Petronas Chemicals was 10 sen higher at RM6.70.

Of the top losers, Genting fell 12 sen to RM10.76, Kossan Rubber and Pos Malaysia declined nine sen each to RM6.80 and RM3.86 respectively, and Genting was eight lower at RM4.99.

Among actives, Borneo Oil and Sumatec inched up half-a-sen each to 18.5 sen and nine sen respectively, Bumi Armada rose three sen to 72 sen, and AT Systematization was flat at six sen.

For the heavyweights, TNB and Public Bank fell six sen each to RM14.36 and RM19.88 respectively while Maybank rose nine sen to RM7.61 and Petronas Chemicals was 10 sen higher at RM6.70.

The FBM Emas Index gained 24.29 points to 11,800.67, the FBMT100 Index rose 23.03 points to 11,500.95 and the FBM Emas Shariah Index improved 32.56 points to 12,446.63.

The FBM 70 increased 24.34 points to 13,875.24 and the FBM Ace was 34.77 points higher at 5,263.85.

 On a sectoral basis, the Industrial Index added 13.67 points to 3,125.26, the Finance Index surged 29.17 points to 14,344.12 while the Plantation Index was 5.66 points better at 7,979.52. ― Bernama
