KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 ― Bursa Malaysia finished lower with the key index in the negative territory as buying interspersed with mild profit-taking.

At 12.30pm, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,723.25, down 0.53 of-a-point, from yesterday's close of 1,723.78.

After opening 1.32 points lower at 1,722.46, the index moved between 1,727.12 and 1,721.10 throughout the morning session.

On the broader market, losers still outpaced gainers 384 to 242 with 344 counters unchanged, 760 counters untraded and 18 others were suspended.    

Turnover stood at 856.82 million shares worth RM667.01 million.              

Utility and finance-linked counters were seen supported with YTL rising four sen to RM1.66, Tenaga Nasional added six sen to RM14.46 while RHB Capital added 12 sen to RM6.22.

Top laggards were led by Genting which declined 16 sen to RM9.14 while top weighted Maybank gained one sen to RM9.16.

Meanwhile, the FBM Emas Index slid 4.84 points to 11,965.48, the FBMT100 Index decreased 3.05 points to 11,661.49 while the FBM Emas Shariah Index shed 8.55 points to 12,518.90.

The FBM70 shed 1.61 points to 13,291.22 while the FBM Ace slipped 15.16 points to 5,751.90.

On a sectorial basis, the Finance Index added 21.03 points to 14,980.44, the Plantation Index climbed 27.14 points to 7,803.03 while the Industrial Index fell 9.24 points to 3,283.11.

Among actives, Eka Noodles was up half-a-sen to 15 sen, AirAsia X gained 1.5 sen to 32.5 sen, Vivocom eased one to 31.5 sen while Sumatec fell half-a-sen to 12.5 sen. ― Bernama
