KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 — A police lorry transporting at least 10 boxes of items believed to be personal belongings connected to an ongoing money-laundering probe was seen exiting Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s house in Taman Duta today.

The transport lorry also called “Black Maria” was escorted by two police outriders and one police patrol car as the convoy departed the compound towards Jalan Tuanku Abdul Halim at around 4.45pm.

Najib’s lawyer Datuk Harpal Singh Grewal yesterday disclosed that among the items confiscated by a special police taskforce reinvestigating 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) were handbags, presents and clothing.

Meanwhile, Federal Commercial Crime Investigations Department director Commissioner Datuk Amar Singh, when contacted earlier, said a press conference will be held after the completion of all searches. He declined to comment further.

Police have cordoned off the roads leading to Najib’s private house in the upscale neighbourhood of Taman Duta here since Sunday.

The former prime minister’s home has been under police lockdown for the last 18 hours, as police search for evidence and confiscate items.

The raid is the latest action in the apparent dragnet forming around Najib, who led Barisan Nasional to its first and only defeat in a general election.

The late-night raid was also reminiscent of those undertaken by police against Malaysians who had previously mocked or insulted Najib online.
