BUTTERWORTH, Feb 17 — Police detained a suspected drug trafficker and seized 230.4gm of heroin from him near the Perai Toll Plaza, Butterworth Outer Ring Road (LLB) here early today.
Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the suspect, aged 36 and unemployed, was detained after police stopped a Proton Perdana car he was driving and found the drug in it.
He said police also detained a 49-year-old lorry driver and seized 26 transparent plastic packets containing 366.45gm cannabis and 16 eramin 5 pills in a raid at a house in Pintas Sembilang 7, Seberang Jaya here at about 10.30 pm yesterday.
The raid was conducted following a tip-off, he said, adding that both the suspects, who tested positive for drug and with previous records, are in remand for seven days for investigation.
In another development, Seberang Perai Utara (SPU) district police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said two men, aged 23 and 24, were detained for engaging in an illegal motorcycle racing at LLP in an operation which began at 11 pm yesterday.
Police also seized their motorcycles, he added. — Bernama
