KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 — Citrawarna@Kuala Lumpur 2017, a celebration of colour and rich Malaysian culture, came alive last night and proved again to be a sight to behold.

Spectators were treated to a vast mix of culture and music against a nature-themed backdrop at the event themed, “The Sunrise, The Green and The Echo Within”.

The occasion was heightened with spectacular fireworks and a synchronised lighting display. Dataran Merdeka turned into a wonderland of Malaysian art as theatre performances, musicals and parades were ordained with local elements.

Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz officiated the event which was brought to life on the road fronting the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad building.

On the “to-do’’ list was a visit to the photo area where the public expressed their love for Malaysia by personalising a picture with the hashtag #SayangMalaysia.

The event started at 7.30am at Taman Eko Rimba, Bukit Nanas where the special “Kids Eco Dash” began to encourage more outdoor activities and to inculcate the love for nature.

Those who got tired from all the fun opted to relax at the “Chillax Zone” — a designated venue surrounding the flagpole area.

Now in its 18th year, the Citrawarna@Kuala Lumpur 2017 is an initiative of the Tourism and Culture Ministry to promote tourism, culture and art.
