SEREMBAN, Oct 20 ― The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) will rebuild 38 burned houses and repair 47 dilapidated residences throughout the country this year under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) programme, involving costs of RM2.16 million.

JBPM deputy director-general (development) Datuk Amer Yusof said the project to rebuild the burned houses would cost RM1.53, while RM639,000 would be set aside for the repair project.

“In the six years of JBPM's involvement in the NBOS 'House Build' programme, 136 houses have been rebuilt, while 92 others have been repaired from 2012 to 2016.

“Such projects can help fire victims.  Although the houses rebuilt are not that big, but for us, it is quite meaningful to show the agency's concern in helping those facing difficulty, as well as the underprivileged communities,” he said in his speech at the presentation ceremony of house keys for the NBOS My Beautiful Neighbour-House Build Programme recipients in Taman Jalur here, yesterday.

The ceremony was officiated by Negri Sembilan Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Datuk Jalaluddin Alias.

Also present were State JBPM director Norazam Khamis and Ampangan assemblyman Datuk Abu Ubaidah Redza. ― Bernama
