CHENNAI, March 31 ― Malaysia will retain diplomatic ties with North Korea following the murder case of North Korean national Kim Jong-nam.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said despite the difficulties faced, the Kim Jong-nam murder case was settled according to negotiation objectives set by the government.
"We hope they will not create another case like this. It is detrimental to the relations of the two countries," he told a news conference here today.
Najib said in seeking a solution to the case, he set two objectives for the committee established to negotiate the problem with North Korea.
Firstly it must assure all Malaysians in North Korea were safe and the sovereignty of the country was not overlooked in the negotiation.
Both objectives were met when three Malaysian diplomats and six family members in Pyongyang returned safely early this morning and the sovereignty of the country was intact, he said. ― Bernama
