SHAH ALAM, March 16 — An auxiliary policeman was today sentenced to a month jail and fined RM15,000, in default six months jail, for bribery while impersonating as a police officer.

Sessions Court judge Rozilah Salleh handed down the sentence on Zakaria Kepol (rpt: Kepol), who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Zakaria, 44, was charged with soliciting RM3,000, while impersonating as a police officer, from a contractor of a housing project in Precinct 11, Putrajaya.

The offence was committed at Bandar Saujana Putra, Jenjarom near here, between Nov 26 and Dec 7, 2015.

He was charged under Section 16 (a)(A) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act and sentence under Section 24 of the same law.

In mitigation, Zakaria said he had a mother and a two-year-old child to support and that he was remorse.
