GEORGE TOWN, March 9 — Amid the uproar against him as the president of Football Association of Penang, DAP’s Zairil Khir Johari is in the limelight again after two video clips allegedly of him dancing with a girl was spread in social media.
The Bukit Bendera MP, who was criticised by football fans for being a poor “leader” for the state’s football team, has denied he was the man shown in the short video clips.
“It’s not me, it’s really nonsense. There are stories about me every day. It’s never ending,” he reportedly told The Star yesterday.
The video clips, both lasting less than 15 seconds each, showed a young man dancing with a woman in a night club.
The first grainy video, taken in a dimly lit night club, showed the back of a long-haired woman in a short dress dancing closely with the bespectacled man.
The second video showed a side view of the couple dancing closely with the woman hugging the man.
The man in the videos was said to resemble Zairil.
Last month, football fans held demonstrations to ask for Zairil’s resignation as the FAP president.
Football fans have blamed the state football team’s poor performance at the Malaysian Super League on Zairil’s poor leadership.
He was only appointed to the position early this year.
In 2014, the father of two was accused of an affair with DAP colleague Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud after intimate pictures of a couple that resembled them began surfacing on blogs and social networks.
Both denied the authenticity of the photos, and labelled it as gutter politics; while Zairil had threatened legal suit against the culprits behind the posting of the pictures.
