KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Foundation (MACF) praised the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today for doing a tremendous job in combatting against corruption.

Following the commission’s recent investigations regardless of the suspect’s post in the civil service, MACF president Datuk Zakaria Jaffar said it has once again proved that MACC was not just making empty promises.

“Almost every week there is someone, either a lower level staff or higher level officer, being questioned, probed, remanded or presented in court on offences related to corruption and power abuse,” he said in a statement.

Zakaria also suggested the Attorney-General chambers welcome cases presented by the MACC.

“Everyone must fight against corruption and it is hoped that MACC will continue to deliver more transparent and dedicated officers with ‘stellar qualities’ in fighting for this cause,” he said.

A latest study by Transparency International revealed that Malaysians and Vietnamese have the worst view of their governments fight against corruption.

According to the international watchdog’s 2017 regional report on the Global Corruption Barometer 62 per cent of Malaysians feel the government is “doing badly” in combating corruption, despite the MACC redoubled efforts.
