KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — The Sarawak chief minister’s press secretary Ambrose Cheng today lodged a police report over a Facebook post claiming that Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II has agreed to accept a petition from Sarawak seeking a review of the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
According to The Star Online, Cheng lodged the report at the Gita police station to deny that Sarawak CM Datuk Amar Abang Johari had divulged any information on a supposed petition for a review of the Malaysia Agreement.
“The posting is not true and we leave it to the police and Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to investigate the matter,” Cheng was quoted saying.
The news report said the Facebook post by “Aman Shah” also alleged that the Sarawak Legislative Assembly unanimously agreed to the review and that the petition was supported by 630,000 Sarawakians.
