KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 4 — PKR lawmaker Rafizi Ramli categorically denied providing any information linking polls watchdog Bersih 2.0 to Islamic State (IS) terrorists as alleged today.
In an immediate statement, the Pandan MP and PKR secretary-general said he does not know what Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Jamal Yunos was talking about when the latter made the assertion.
“I don’t know anything about what Jamal said. I don’t want to know and am not interested to know.
“Jamal talks nonsense. Whoever entertains Jamal will similarly be talking nonsense like Jamal.
“Jamal is the biggest clown in Umno. The Umno leadership has a daily headache with trying to silence this increasingly unfunny clown,” he said.
Rafizi also said he has never known Jamal or had any form of communication with the man.
“Jamal is talking nonsense, that’s why his answers must also be nonsense,” he said, adding that it is a waste of time to entertain the controversial rally organiser further.
Jamal who leads an anti-Bersih movement known as the Red Shirts had earlier today submitted to the police a file he said contains information to tie Bersih 2.0 to IS militants.
He claimed to have received part of the information from Rafizi, but declined to elaborate, saying it was up to the police to disclose the details.
Jamal has been leading a campaign against Bersih 2.0, accusing them of seeking the ouster of the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his government through street demonstrations.
He was also reported to have previously accused the group of seeking to take over control of airports nationwide, and has since established himself as a sort of champion to stop them from making mischief.
The Red Shirts clashed with the electoral reform group’s convoy in Perak last Saturday.
The polls reform group is currently on a nationwide convoy ahead of its Bersih 5 rally in Kuala Lumpur on November 19.
