BUKIT MERTAJAM, April 11 — A Myanmar man, who runs an eatery in Jalan Permatang Batu, Bukit Tengah here, was stabbed and hacked to death in a fight with three men in front of the premises today.
In the 6.45am incident, the victim, known only as Hasan, 27, who is also United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card holder, died with stab and slash wounds on the chest, neck and arms.
Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Rusli Mohd Noor said the police were alerted about the fight by the eatery worker.
“The worker saw the three men beating and stabbing his employer and screamed for help, causing the three suspects to flee the scene.
“The victim was found with five stab wounds on the chest, as well as several slash wounds on the neck and arms, believed to be assaulted using a machete.
There were also some bruises on the body,” he told reporters here today.
The body was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital for post mortem.
Efforts are being done to track down the suspects, aged between 20 and 30, Rusli said, adding that members of the public with information on the case were requested to contact the nearest police station to facilitate further investigation into the case. — Bernama
