PETALING JAYA, Oct 21 — The police have detained seven suspected members of the notorious ‘Jimmy Boy’ gang which is linked to several murder and armed robbery cases.

The suspects, aged between 17 and 35 were nabbed in three separate raids in Kajang yesterday morning.

Kajang police chief, ACP Willey Richard said the 35-year-old suspected gang leader was caught, together with three accomplices about 6am at a house in Lorong Madrasah, Sungai Sekamat.

The rest were nabbed around Seri Kembangan and Balakong New Village, he told a news conference at the Kajang police headquarters near here today.

“The gang which had been active since April, was involved in several violent crimes.

“We also seized several items including a samurai sword, four machetes and four mobile phones.

“With the arrest of the seven suspects, we believe we have solved two murder cases in Sungai Long, Kajang and the Simpang Balak reservoir in Cheras,” he said, adding that they were remanded to facilitate investigations.

Meanwhile in a separate case, the police have detained a woman and a man in connection with drug trafficking activities around Kajang in separate raids yesterday evening.

Richard said the first raid involved a 33-year-old woman who was picked up at her house in Taman Damai Perdana, Cheras. The suspect was allegedly carrying out drug trafficking over the past six months.

He said a raiding police team found a pistol and six rounds of ammunition in the woman’s room and had detained her under Section 8 of the Firearms Act 1960.

Subsequently, the team seized among others, 11.70 grammes of ketamine, and 262 pills believed to be ecstasy and weighing 77.20 grammes.

In the second arrest, Richard said the police nabbed a 44-year-old motorcyclist in Taman Putri Jaya Batu 9 Cheras at a road-shoulder and seized 20 plastic packets of powder weighing 31.76 grammes, believed to be heroin. — Bernama
