BANDING (Perak), July 16 — The Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) is working closely with the Thai military to investigate the incident of two Malaysian military personnel believed to have been shot by smugglers while patrolling the Malaysia-Thailand border in Pos Machang, Tanah Merah in Kelantan last Tuesday.
Chief of Army Jen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor said the networking was made, among others, to share information on any latest development on the incident.
“I am informed they (Thai military) have identify several individuals involved in the incident and we will continue to liaise with them for the latest development.
“Two of the injured personnel have been brought to the Kubang Kerian hospital for further treatment and have the bullets found on them removed,” he said.
He told Bernama this after presenting Hari Raya parcels to military personnel involved in the duty operation in the Pos Temengor Forward Operational Base-FOB 3 Pos Temengor here today.
In the 5.35 pm incident, the military personnel, aged 26 and 29, from the Fifth Batallion Border regiment was shot from a distance of 30 metres using shotgun. — Bernama
