KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 3 — DAP’s Lim Kit Siang lauded today his political foe MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek’s surprise move to sack Datuk Lee Hwa Beng from the flagging Barisan Nasional party.

Lee, an MCA veteran, had broadcasted his expulsion from MCA on Twitter earlier today, adding he believed it may be linked to his invitation to the DAP adviser to the launch of his tell-all book on the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ) scandal, “PKFZ: A Nation’s Trust Betrayed”, two years ago.

“I’m sorry that’s the reason but I think it is a cause for celebration instead of commiseration.

“But that was two years back, that couldn’t be the reason.

“[Dr Chua] must feel he is in a precarious position, even as Hwa Beng was elected as central delegate, that it was essential to eliminate him,” Lim told The Malay Mail Online over the phone.

He had also tweeted that Lee should write a sequel entitled “A Nation’s Trust Betrayed2”.

“But that’s MCA’s politics and I don’t want to get involved,” Lim said.

Lee was a former MCA central committee member and was also the Subang Jaya state lawmaker for three straight terms until 2008.

Elected to be a national delegate to the Chinese party’s polls later this year just last week, the ex-port boss had tweeted about his sacking just as the MCA presidential council was holding a news conference today.

“Just heard @drchuaSL just sacked me as an MCA member. Am honored as he see me as a threat once I was voted in as a national delegate,” the former Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman wrote on Twitter using his account @hwabeng this afternoon.

“Was told I was sacked as MCA member 4 inviting @limkitsiang 2 launch my PKFZ bk.But why now?Must b when I was elected a nat delegate last wk,” he added.

But when contacted by The Malay Mail Online, Lee said there was “no letter, no notice” informing him of the sacking.

He declined to comment further until he found out the reason behind his sacking from the political party.

Attempts by The Malay Mail Online to contact the MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek was unsuccessful.

In a press conference after a MCA central committee meeting this afternoon, Dr Chua made no mention of the alleged sacking of Lee.
