PARIS, Feb 11 — Alongside Paris Haute Couture Week in January, the French jewelry house presented a new “Collection of Animals”, adding new beasts to Boucheron’s iconic high-end jewellery menagerie of mythical and realistic inspiration.

Since Boucheron was founded in 1858, the luxury jewellery brand has been constantly renewing and enriching its collection of animal designs. This has given rise to some exceptional creations, worn like bejewelled charms with unique meaning and symbolism for their wearers.

Artistic creativity has been matched with the exceptional skill of the French jeweller’s craftspeople to bring a new “Collection of Animals” to life in 2016. Drawing on expert techniques such as carving, polishing and stone setting, Boucheron’s master jewellers have sculpted gold, crafted shapes and worked with various high-end materials to develop designs for this new high-end jewellery range.

The animals themselves have been carefully selected too. With symbolic meanings including protection, love, peace, femininity, devotion, immortality, innocence or hope, each animal-themed creation tells its own powerful story.

The collection includes some of Boucheron’s iconic snakes, with symbolic talismans “Kaa”, Python” and “Amvara” crafted from rose, yellow and white gold, and set with diamonds, sapphires, rubies and emeralds.

There are over 20 species in the “Collection of Animals” range, including “Hans, the hedgehog”, “Cypris, the swan”, “Hera, the peacock”, “Hopi, the hummingbird”, “Arctic the polar bear and penguin”, “Honu, the turtle”, “Hirunda, the swallows” and “Biladom, the panda”. — AFP-Relaxnews
