KUALA LUMPUR, April 26 — It appears that Malaysia’s luxury brand leader has yet again stolen the limelight from its main competitor, as Mercedes-Benz Malaysia announced the availability of not one, but two of its high-performance models, the C43 and GLC 43 Mercedes-Benz AMG. This very bold, but very clever move makes Mercedes-Benz Malaysia the first manufacturer to produce luxury performance cars in Malaysia; more importantly, the impact that this move will have in the market is that it brings down the retail prices of the Mercedes-Benz C 43 and the GLC 43 to a more attainable level. The C43 AMG in locally-assembled form is offered at RM408,888.00, while the GLC 43 AMG is offered at RM468,888, reduced by approximately RM100k and RM120k respectively.

The C 43 and the GLC 43 are powered by the AMG-enhanced 3.0 litre bi-turbo (read as twin turbo) engine, churning out an impressive supercar power of 367 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque, enough to make any driving enthusiast drool. Besides, both the vehicles make perfect executive and/or family rides, and both can be driven sedately if need be.

Mated to the powerplant is a 9G-TRONIC Automatic transmission, with specially tuned AMG software which caters for almost any gearing situation that may arise.

Both vehicles feature the exceptional Mercedes-Benz 4MATIC technology, the AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which is engineered to maximise daily usability of the impressive torque of Mercedes-AMG C 43 and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. Thanks to the model-specific software application, the AMG developers managed to reduce substantially the shift times of the nine-speed transmission. The multiple downshift allows even faster short bursts of speed, while the double-declutching function in the “Sport” and “Sport Plus” transmission modes makes for an even more emotive driving experience. Defined ignition adjustments also provide faster gearshifts in the “Eco” and “Comfort” modes.

“Manual” mode can be enabled by pressing a button on the centre console. The gear changes are based on the selected transmission mode, and the driver can change gear using the paddles on the steering wheel. Moreover, the transmission stays in the selected gear and does not automatically shift up when the engine speed reaches the limit.

“We are ecstatic to announce the launch of the first locally-assembled luxury performance cars in Malaysia — the Mercedes-AMG C 43 and Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. With the introduction of these models, we expand the range of vehicles assembled at our Pekan production plant adding to our existing elegant limousines and premium SUV, the GLCs. With superior power, dynamic handling, aggressive design and luxurious appointment, this incredible AMG 43 pair of automobiles now come with irresistible value to the passionate Mercedes-AMG driver,” says Mark Raine, Vice President Sales & Marketing Passenger Cars, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.
